Toys and cute dresses are what I would like to give to her wrap in a fancy gift wrapper and let her open the box full of wonderful stuff. She is a good baby of ours so she deserves the best. I checked out www.megabrands.com store and I found one that best suits for her age. I like this Princess Enchanted Gardens in which she can form a castle or a small garden out of it, pink in color and safer on her age since there's not much small toy parts.
If you have a boy though or thinking of giving your nephews' toys, you can also find mickey mouse cars in discounted prices at that same store. Tons of different toys to choose from either for kids, babies and for big kids who love toys too.

One of my older friends told me about a Thanksgiving when she was expecting 27 people for dinner. She'd done most of the work herself, her children being too young to be very helpful, but her husband got the turkey platter from high up in the cupboard. While reaching for it, she asked him a question, and he said something to the effect of, "Don't ask me now. I can only do one thing at a time!" Getting the turkey platter was all he could concentrate on. My friend's husband was an engineer, and lacked no intelligence. But his mind wasn't wired like his wife's.
On Thanksgiving our house is full, and the hour preceding dinner is when men are better off in the next room discussing football. Last year our son-in-law, always considerate, offered his help. I mentioned something about putting salad dressings on, but he was wide-eyed with wonder, likely never having seen such female bedlam, and gradually retreated to safety. (It's overwhelming even for me, watching that nothing gets forgotten or burned, and continually finding room for more food guests bring in. My big checklist on the fridge door saves the day. That, and ensuring enough women come to keep each other company, so I can think!) But it doesn't take long for many hands working in all directions to have tables laden and beautifully lit. Then my husband will pray, with "bless the hands that have prepared it." (Yes, I need that!) And toward the end of the feast, he starts the clean-up rolling.
This year the week of Thanksgiving is, for me, extraordinarily packed. I began working towards it long ago, and my days are crisscrossed with many things still needing to be done, while my husband calmly follows his regular routine so we can pay for turkey(s)!
In the flurry and hurry of this season, we need to accept that our husbands aren't like us. (Though we do at least have a rib in common!*) And that we need to include them in our, "Thanks God," along with others we so enjoy. Our husbands are our lovers and our friends* - often even our sanity. :-)

Jasper and the Unbaked Yeast Rolls

We have a fox terrier by the name of Jasper. He came to us in the summer of 2001 from the fox terrier rescue program. For those of you, who are unfamiliar with this type of adoption, imagine taking in a 10 year old child about whom you know nothing and committing to doing your best to be a good parent.
Like a child, the dog came with his own idiosyncrasies. He will only sleep on the bed, on top of the covers, nuzzled as close to my face as he can get without actually performing a French kiss on me.
Lest you think this is a bad case of 'no discipline,' I should tell you that Perry and I tried every means to break him of this habit including locking him in a separate bedroom for several nights. The new door cost over $200. But I digress.
Five weeks ago we began remodeling our house. Although the cost of the project is downright obnoxious, it was 20 years overdue AND it got me out of cooking Thanksgiving for family, extended family, and a lot of friends that I like more than family most of the time.
I was assigned the task of preparing 124 of my famous yeast dinner rolls for the two Thanksgiving feasts we did attend.
I am still cursing the electrician for getting the new oven hooked up so quickly. It was the only appliance in the whole darn house that worked, thus the assignment.
I made the decision to cook the rolls on Wed evening to reheat Thurs am. Since the kitchen was freshly painted, you can imagine the odor. Not wanting the rolls to smell like Sherwin Williams #586, I put the rolls on baking sheets and set them in the living room to rise for a few hours. Perry and I decided to go out to eat, returning in about an hour. The rolls were ready to go in the oven.
It was 8:30 PM. When I went to the living room to retrieve the pans, much to my shock one whole pan of 12 rolls was empty. I called out to Jasper and my worst nightmare became a reality. He literally wobbled over to me. He looked like a combination of the Pillsbury dough boy and the Michelin Tire man wrapped up in fur. He groaned when he walked. I swear even his cheeks were bloated.
I ran to the phone and called our vet. After a few seconds of uproarious laughter, he told me the dog would probably be OK, however, I needed to give him Pepto Bismol every 2 hours for the rest of the night.
God only knows why I thought a dog would like Pepto Bismol any more than my kids did when they were sick. Suffice it to say that by the time we went to bed the dog was black, white and pink. He was so bloated we had to lift him onto the bed for the night.
We arose at 7:30 and as we always do first thing; put the dog out to relieve himself. Well, the dog was as drunk as a sailor on his first leave. He was running into walls, falling flat on his butt and most of the time when he was walking his front half was going one direction and the other half was either dragging the grass or headed 90 degrees in another direction.
He couldn't lift his leg to pee, so he would just walk and pee at the same time. When he ran down the small incline in our back yard he couldn't stop himself and nearly ended up running into the fence.
His pupils were dilated and he was as dizzy as a loon. I endured another few seconds of laughter from the vet (second call within 12 hours) before he explained that the yeast had fermented in his belly and that he was indeed drunk.
He assured me that, not unlike most binges we humans go through, it would wear off after about 4 or 5 hours and to keep giving him Pepto Bismol.
Afraid to leave him by himself in the house, Perry and I loaded him up and took him with us to my sister's house for the first Thanksgiving meal of the day.
My sister lives outside of Muskogee on a ranch, (10 to 15 minute drive). Rolls firmly secured in the trunk (124 less 12) and drunk dog leaning from the back seat onto the console of the car between Perry and I, we took off.
Now I know you probably don't believe that dogs burp, but believe me when I say that after eating a tray of risen unbaked yeast rolls, DOGS WILL BURP. These burps were pure Old Charter. They would have matched or beat any smell in a drunk tank at the police station. But that's not the worst of it.
Now he was beginning to fart and they smelled like baked rolls. God strike me dead if I am not telling the truth! We endured this for the entire trip to Karen's, thankful she didn't live any further away than she did.
Once Jasper was firmly placed in my sister's garage with the door locked, we finally sat down to enjoy our first Thanksgiving meal of the day. The dog was the topic of conversation all morning long and everyone made trips to the garage to witness my drunken dog, each returning with a tale of Jasper's latest endeavor to walk without running into something. Of course, as the old adage goes, 'what goes in must come out' and Jasper was no exception.
Granted if it had been me that had eaten 12 risen, unbaked yeast rolls, you might as well have put a concrete block up my behind, but alas a dog's digestive system is quite different from yours or mine. I discovered this was a mixed blessing when we prepared to leave Karen's house. Having discovered his 'packages' on the garage floor, we loaded him up in the car so we could hose down the floor.
This was another naive decision on our part. The blast of water from the hose hit the poop on the floor and the poop on the floor withstood the blast from the hose. It was like Portland cement beginning to set up and cure.
We finally tried to remove it with a shovel. I (obviously no one else was going to offer their services) had to get on my hands and knees with a coarse brush to get the remnants off of the floor. And as if this wasn't degrading enough, the darn dog in his drunken state had walked through the poop and left paw prints all over the garage floor that had to be brushed too.
Well, by this time the dog was sobering up nicely so we took him home and dropped him off before we left for our second Thanksgiving dinner at Perry's sister's house.
I am happy to report that as of today (Monday) the dog is back to normal both in size and temperament. He has had a bath and is no longer tricolor. None the worse for wear I presume. I am also happy to report that just this evening I found 2 risen unbaked yeast rolls hidden inside my closet door.
It appears he must have come to his senses after eating 10 of them but decided hiding 2 of them for later would not be a bad idea. Now, I'm doing research on the computer as to: 'How to clean unbaked dough from the carpet.'

"We thought we'd better get something out there," said the Rev. Rich Smith, senior minister of Westmoreland. "It seemed like it would be worth a shot anyway."
Bishop John School, who heads the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church, sent Obama a list of local United Methodist churches. The United Church of Christ, the denomination of Obama's former church, United Trinity Church of Christ, is in the running, too. UCC General Minister and President John Thomas dropped Obama a note three days after the election "offering the hospitality of our congregations in Washington as places of nurture, sanctuary and encouragement." Gary Scott Smith, author of "Faith and the Presidency" and a history professor at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, said, "I can't recall another situation where there is this kind of interest before the president even takes office in terms of where he is going to go to church, and churches campaigning for his attendance. This is unique in American political history."
This just doesn't seem right. It's like they're campaigning for his attention. It's like they are lobbying for the High School star player. Seriously, this isn't a game. Let the Obamas do this on their own. Hearing about these churches acting like horny school girls is a little bit frightening.
And I hope they know that Obama learned his lesson from Rev. Wright, so they shouldn't try to slip a mickey in Obama's grape juice on the first Sunday. And they shouldn't try to influence him in any way. They need to be a church and that's it.

Following the pot luck dinner the second movie Before Night Falls will be screened at 7:30pm. The movie stars Javier Bardem as Cuban poet and novelist, Reinaldo Arenas who was imprisoned for two years in Cuba for his homosexuality and his writing.

The 1989 stabbing murder of Rita Hester a transsexual woman in Boston sparked the inception of the National Transgender Day of Remembrance. To commemorate Rita and others lost to anti-transgender violence candlelight vigils are held in dozens of cities around the world in November. For the first time in Sault Ste Marie members of LGBT will join those other cities and participate in a candlelight vigil at 7pm on Saturday November 22nd in front of the Sault Ste Marie courthouse.
As a celebration of the accomplishments, struggles and spirit of LGBT people and their allies a dance party will be held on Saturday evening beginning at 10pm at Bottoms Up Lounge. All over the age of 19 are welcome.

Jeffrey Howard Cirillo is a name that will live on forever in Brewers lore. Though not a Yount, Molitor or Cooper, Cirillo is a working class hero, a homegrown phenomenon who epitomized the essentials – moxie, grit, and blue collar work ethic. He is the all-time Brewers career batting average leader and a RFB favorite/guest poster. But as the immense threats of Y2K and the Spice Girls loomed in December of 1999, ‘Rillo’s Brewer career was interrupted when he was package with Scott Karl and cash in a three-way deal that sent him to Colorado and garnered the Brewers the return of Jimmy Haynes, Henry Blanco and Jamey Wright.
Before Leaving Town:
Over part of six seasons (including a strike-shortened 1994), Cirillo thrice hit over .300. Beyond his first season, his fielding percentage was always at or above .950, despite being moved between first, third, second and shortstop in the span. His lone Brewers all-star appearance came in 1997.
The Return:
In five seasons spent between Baltimore and Oakland Jimmy Haynes went a combined 26-34. 199 marked his worst season to date, finding him with a 7-12 record and 6.34 E.R.A in 30 games. Jamey Wright, brother of equally bad pitcher Jaret Wright, was 25-33 in his first four Major League seasons. At just 24 years old and coming off a decent 1999 season (4.87 E.R.A mostly in a hitter’s ballpark), Wright possessed considerable upside when he came to Milwaukee. Henry Blanco came off two less than impressive seasons spent between the Dodgers and Rockies, his first two professional seasons. But his defense made him worthy of inclusion in the trade.
The Payoff:
Cirillo was an all-star for the Rockies in 2000 with 11 homers, 115 RBI, 53 doubles, a .326 batting average and just short of 200 hits. It bears mention that He was traded to Seattle in 2002 for three players, one of which was Brian Fuentes. As most know, ‘Rillo returned to Milwaukee at the twilight of his playing days to provide veteran leadership in 2005 and 2006.
Haynes went 20-30 in two seasons as a Brewers starter. He posted E.R.A.s of 5.33 and 4.85 in the time frame. Wright pitched decently well in his first two seasons as a Brewer. He went 18-21 and kept his E.R.A. in the manageable low 4.00s – but made almost $3.5 M in the time. Sadly, he was resigned for $4.25 M in 2002, only to suck out loud and be traded to St. Louis. Blanco proved to be an alright pickup, but far from great as a cheap part-time backstop. Both Wright and Blanco were still active in 2008.
Turned Into:
Blanco was traded to the Braves for Jose Cabrera and Paul Bako (who was eventually traded to the Cubs for RYAN HOWARD…Gripp, a minor leaguer who amounted to nothing). Wright was resigned, but flipped to St. Louis for minor leaguers Chris Morris and Mike Matthews.
The Winner:
The Rockies – easily. They emerged with an all-star (who was then traded for another all-star). The Brewers, though handed parts to toss out on the field of play, lost an all-star, a fan favorite and Brew City icon for a fairly dismal period – and didn’t even save much money in doing so. And Paul Bako isn’t exactly Brain Fuentes in terms of extended return.

As I was reading a European celebrity magazine a couple of years ago, I stumbled upon a very interesting article about the life of Italian movie star, Monica Bellucci. In that article, I read about Monicas great rise to stardom and her enormous self-confidence. I believe in one quote, she mentioned waking up every morning and telling herself that shes number one. Wow, talk about self-love and high self-esteem. After reading that article, I started to think about how people with talent and self-love carry themselves and believe in themselves: with no doubt and no resistance. Its either all or nothing. Another example of someone with tremendous self-confidence is Oprah Winfrey, who has shared her fortune, time, and love with the world for so many years. Oprah believes in her talents and virtues, and isnt afraid to share them. She is a giver, and despite her difficult childhood, she has learned that through hard work, discipline, kindness, and determination, a persons confidence can grow. Oprah never let her troubled past hold her back from conquering television, and her dreams. Another example of a feisty, self-confident female is Jennifer Lopez, who has conquered movies, music, and fashion. Jennifer has always been confident with herself, because she believes that everyone is an individual and has something to offer to society. She is confident with her looks, and even though she doesnt have the standard Hollywood beauty, she has worked hard and believed enough in herself to turn her life into a fairy tale. Confidence is a topic that touches everyone of us. Women, I believe, are especially affected with this topic, because we are always aiming to please the ones we love, and be sensitive of our image. By working hard towards your goals and dreams, by not letting lifes obstacles stop you, all of us have the power to have great confidence and make a difference in the world. Self-love is confidence, and confidence is happiness. When we are confident and happy with ourselves, life is good, and we make people around us feel just as good, too. Confidence is power.

In all seriousness I am very proud of Jarod as he continues to be such great provider for our family. I am very sad about the distance between you and I. We have been so blessed with so many great friends and a loving family. We will miss everyone!!! PLEASE PLEASE come see us. I promise it will be worth it-there is so much to do and see (not to mention our cute kids :)!)
We really like the area we are in and have decided that we are going to try to stay put, just in another complex. We looked at many different homes to rent and nothing seems to be a fit. Either they were way too old and gross or too far out. The cost of living isn't much different than we are used to in San Diego. The search is on but we are starting to narrow it down. Hopefully we will have a new "home" soon. The military is going to pay to move us so I don't have to worry about packing...how cool is that?! We are looking for someone to rent our home in SD. If you know of anyone looking to rent please refer.
We will be in San Diego next weekend to drop off the kids and Jarod and I will be off to Napa to celebrate Mike and Kim's wedding, which we are so thrilled about! After that the plan is for Jarod to drive back here so we have a car. The kids and I will follow shortly after (by plane). Any takers to fly out with us :).
